Some thoughts on Bersih 2.0 Rally - July 9th 2011

Okay, boys and girls. This blog post maybe far more longer than usual posts but it is worth it as I want to be a part of Malaysian cries for free and fair elections to painstaking explain as accurately as possible to the events that leads to this today's Bersih rally.

Kuala Lumpur (9th July) :

Today is a historic days. Just at around afternoon, large amount of Malaysia civilians from all walks of life gathers around in the heart of capital city of Kuala Lumpur. Just be mindful that this is not the end of world riot which happened in Middle East recently or worst, civil war that erupts in Libya.
But the Malaysia state controlled media such as TV1,2 and 3, they twist it as a demonstration when it is just a peaceful rally (not even a protest to overthrow government, mind you) by civilians who are demanding  a clean and fair elections process for up and coming Malaysia's General 13th elections.

For those who didn't update themself with the local politics news, there is a Bersih (Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections) movement lead by Dato Ambiga Sreenevasan consisting of 62 NGO's demanding simply 8 demands to the Election Committees:

(1) Clean the electoral rolls
(2) Reform postal ballot
(3) Use of indelible ink
(4) Minimun of 21 days campaign period
(5) Free and fair access to media
(6) Strengthen public institutions
(7) Stop corruption
(8) Stop dirty politics

But somehow the current ruling government ruled out that this simple march of demanding fair elections as illegal and twisted this rally into spreading idea of communism as shown here in June 26 2011. Why, why, you might asks yourself , when this peaceful march is turned into something illegals?

For the observers, this maybe means the current government must use some kinds of dirty tactics (gerrymandering , I am looking at you) in many elections ago and the demands for clean and fair elections may cause them to lose in the coming elections. If not, why the government ban this peaceful rally and labeled it as communism even though a free, clean and fair elections will benefit all parties involved in elections?

Maybe . . . just maybe . . . they are rooted too deeply in the political power for too long (~1957-2011) and when the people knows what the government is up to, they are scared shitless and try everything and anything by or out of book to maintain their fading grip in local political power scene.
And what will happened when a persons/party stays in power for too long ? See North Korea, Egypt, Tunisia, Iran, Mynamar,Burma for examples. And look on pictures below for you to ponder about. . .

Before this Bersih rally even started, police had captured many high profiles individuals (Forget whom but I can't seems to find the news) that are linked to the Bersih rally[If you know who is it, post comment on below!]. Nice play for the politicians. The police also responded well today . . .with water cannons and tear gases seen in news report of  journalists from around the world. They even arrests more than a thousand "protesters", wow amazing ! If their efficiency is applicable to the thieves/robbers/kidnapper/murderer ,all the better. But this is not the cases. T_T . .

Here is the statement made by Hishamuddin in 29 June 2011 (~2 weeks before the rally started).
The police for this few weeks started to arrest anyone who is wear yellow colour shirts. The situations is so drastic until there are photoshop meme going on around FB which yellow colour characters like Spongebob, Digi Man, Pikachiu, Bumblebee are being arrested by police.  Why yellow ? Cos it is the "official" colour endorsed by the Bersih coalitions.

Okay now, I shall presents you the first piece of contradictions. First, the Government said they allowed rally but then the police don't approve the permits for it in this July 5th article.

But3 days later (8th June 2011), the police says NO !

This rally doesn't have permit, of which the permits had to be approved by the police which caused catch -22 situations. In Malaysia, you need a permit to do a rally but since the police don't give you a permit, what you should do? TAKE IT OUT TO THE STREET !

In today's rally , up to more than 1000+ people were arrested for joining in the rally. Think I am bluffing ?
Google "Police arrests 1667" and you will know what I meant.

Below is one of the image showing in a democratic country where police just disperse the peaceful rally using tear gas. In some cases, they are using water cannons. Worst case scenario, the police starts to "turun padang" and they "personally manhandled" the civilians.

From point of view of outside observer, this is ain't democratic at all in this country which practised democracy or in other words "Democracy, the Malaysian styles".

P.S: In the end of the day, don't push all the blame to the police. They are just puppet which are following orders/controlled by the higher up/puppet master (^_^ No need to spell it out, isnt it). Remember that, before you insult/angry with them. Try to putting yourself into their shoes: You had an order from your superiors and it is most inhumane and shittiest job to do. But, you still had to do it to secure your job and earn a living. Again, please, do not go against the police, they are just manipulated by the "higher ups" ^_^V )

There are also a rally held way back in 2007 also (Google "Bersih Rally 2007") but at that time it still didn't garner as much as supports compared to todays. Why suddenly the Malaysian comes to it senses now ?

Maybe, it is the way of government ruling styles which just burden its people with prices of daily items increased and out of control inflation such as prices of oil increment by 20 cents monthly , or power of social networking.

Before we move on the (not so) chronological events, let us see a very good and brief videos summarizing what is really happening today)

Now this is where the rest of articles headed. . .
Let us started way back to 2010 (shall we ?), where the Idris Jala said the Malaysia will bankrupt in 2019. But why Malaysia will bankrupt out of sudden, since Malaysia is poised to be set for 5.7% GDP growth in that year ?

This is one of the snippets from Thestars Online dating 27 May 2010.

Ok, not cool dude . So is that means everything will be increased ?

Yes, everything. This comes from the same source of the article too.

First thing first, I thought electricity is mainly comes from hydroelectric. Why need to increase it when the cut in fuel subsidy ? And don't bluff on 200kWh. Most normal household already consumes 400 - 500 kWh.
Source? My bill. But I can't simply post my electricity bill as it will later tracked to me. :P

The subsidy cut packages includes healthcare and educations. You know what, the Malaysian tertiary study debts is set to increase by 10%~30% if this is continue. Although, the healthcare is not increased by much, just imagined how the hardcore poor in Malaysia is going to afford healthcare if the basic human rights to access the healthcare is going up ? As well as daily neccesities as this will create a domino effects as seen now.

Fuel increase -> Transportation Fee Increase -> Electricity Increase -> Toll Fee Increase -> Food Increase

Oh my gosh, no wonder the rakyat is damn angry. Everything raises except the damn SALARY !

But ....
wait ....
a .........
minute .......
In 16th October 2011, there are some adjustment in plan.
The Govt intend to build a RM5 BILLION 100 storey tower.  Yes, with a B.

So what does common people think ?

So majority thinks the 100 storeys Warisan Merdeka are just a waste of money. On 30 November 2010, even the ex-Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir even agrees that Malaysia do not need to build 100 storey  tower yet.

So now people have voiced their opinion, so do Government listen to their people ?

So you get your answer from articles dated 21 October above ... Haiz... Which this leads to a creation of FB groups of 1M Malaysians Reject 100-storey Mega Tower

As of now, there are close o 300k people participate this active group.

Okay, here we shows you another contradictions. Now we look how the Najib implement 1 Malaysia concept. Although some might says this is a copy cat ideas from some countries but skip that for now. Let see some of the politics joker trying to say something during 2010April Fools day.

Later, on the next day.
Najib says Muhyiddin said nothing wrong and in fact it is still 1 Malaysia wor ... Wau ! Nice way to go dude !

Here is a much more funny parts, that when something big is up such as Sarawak elections and also this Bersih rally, the non-state controlled news outlet , Malaysiakini is being ddos-ed. This is screenshot taken at exactly noon where many Malaysians head out to the rally in capital KL city.

Coincidence? You bet. No wonder the demand 5 (Free and fair access to media) is absolutely vital .
Why? Just look at the acts of Government and SKMM of censoring 10 file sharing websites since the early of this July is making all this a big mess under the guise of copyright acts. Do we forget something here ? Yes !

Najib says he won't censor Internet at the April of this year !

This snippets just came in on 25th April 2011.
Now we zoom to June 11 2011.

So what just happened with your promise, dear PM ?

Although you might argue it is to protect copyright, what if later you might misuse it to block out the voice of dissident civillians such as Facebook, Twitter and even Blogger itself.
Today , the Bersih rally won't be a success, if not for the social networking tools.

No wait, it will happens soon enough. This is an article dated 1 July 2011, read it for yourself.

So from all this things you seen yourself, you might ask is Malaysia is going to become another a totalitarian country like China or North Korea ?

Who knows, but in far corners of my heart I sincerely wish that Malaysia is going to be allright.
Maybe not today, but eventually it will , thanks to countless brothers and sisters of Malaysians of making Malaysia a better and peaceful place to live in once more.

So, if the police try to act very smart to catch me, well all of this are truth and reported as in mainstream newspaper thestar.com.my without editing any of the words but underline the highlighted words.

Hey, let us review that part again . . .

This is article dated 25 April 2011 on engaging bloggers.

The only thing I know when the Government try to engage me. See what happened to Raja Petra Kamaruddin, when he expose some truth in 24 September 2008.

Erm ... whom is he , you might asked? He is the one who exposed the Najib involvement with murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu. So, if he isn't the one who commit the murder, why Najib don't just sue this fellow till bankrupt for defamation and instead invoke ISA for his little comments? Hmmph ...

Whether the Raja is being incited to do this or what, this matters should be resolved legally. Not just simply invoke ISA on whim.

Okay, personally I am not that quite afraid of Malaysia Government as I done my job as law abiding citizens and intend pay my income taxes / study loans to feed the Government coffer. But well, there is one thing I am afraid of, that is when Malaysia police starts knocking at my door says I am under arrests for spreading half truth/half lies in this blog.

or will they able to ?

Again, I thanks on all the Malaysian no matter who you are, from where you are, what religions that you practiced, what skin colours you are for demonstrating your painful struggles to the world in this heavily oppressed rally today. But it is thanks to you, the whole world now sees what the Government funny business and perhaps they know grasping the concept of "government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." and the true democracy and may there be afraid of people to do the change if they didn't change their ruling styles.

Maybe , maybe there is still a slime chance of long lasting peace will prevails in Malaysia . . . .
