My own Kardel Sharpeye top guide on becoming uber cool

I remember since long long long time ago , when I first play the DotA my first hero that I choose in pub games in Kardel. After long long long time of using him, I never feels very ousted in using him over the years.

Here is my opinion on why Kardel is cool and he is living proof that old is golden

If you are not a fan of DotA , it's all right, I just tell you why I like Kardel only. :) No discussion or strategy here. :)

Kardel Sharpeye is a testament to his name and race. Using only his finely honed skills of marksmanship and his trusty rifle, he sytematically destroys his opponents from afar. Taking great care to aim for the most vulnerable of areas, he is capable of severely injuring an opponent, and with a little extra time, has been known to simply dispose of an enemy in a single shot. His rifle is equipped with a secondary barrel, capable of launching a short burst of shrapnel at close range, causing massive damage.

What Kardel probably thinks right now:
Back in War of Magi, I made 705 Scourge kills and nicknamed The Green Death

(1) His gear (excluding the 6 items inventory) is pretty minimum compares to other heroes who wore flashy armours and uber looking weapon.

(P.S: Gears description are my own opinions)

The modified boots which will make walking become much more inaudible in the battlefield and leave traceless marks on the soft grounds

The sniper rifle which are made of dwarven technology with iron-sight aim and reconciliation dampener  and smoke absorber to absorb the smoke from the explosion and bayonet in case of needs of melee attack.

The cloak which are dyed dark green to make camouflage more easier in the wood of sentinel area and it can be turned inside out to become dark grey in the dead woods of scourge area

An old foggy telescope as old as himself to look out for incoming enemies  and        attachable to the sniper to provide accurate sniping scope.

Which are all concluded in self portrait of Kardel Sharpeye below !

(2) Although he is old, his range of attack is the longest in the game.

At level 4 ,his Take Aim skills can reach add to 220 ranges. Although 220 ranges may seems a bit it actually added up to base range of 550 and becomes 770 !!!!!.
To compare, the tower range had 700 ranges only means that why tower can't hit you. you can hit tower as much as you like if you are still within Line of Sight in late games

(3) He is the only easiest learning curve hero to use.

Two active skills and two passive skills are required to play this hero.

What do you have to ask more for ?

(4) His active skill (Ultimate excluded) can damages enemy troops, mechanical contraptions, heroes and even buildings !

Can you name which other hero of their skills actually damages the building AND mechanical contraptions ?

(5) He haven't contracted cataract ... yet

And to make a good sniper, you must had a very pretty good eyesight liken to 20/20 eyesight. :) His constant rich diet of underground fish and fermented wheat beer must had done that. :)

(6) His projectile is also the fastest in the game.

For in the lane that Kardel control, there's high possibility that you claim all the gold to yourself combined with your attack speed and attack animations.

      (Hoho ... It's on the house,mates !  Bloody 135 golds  It's party time ! )

(7) As wine grows old , it improves

Unlike other hero skills, Kardel scattershot damages and slow effect IMPROVES with additional level without extra mana cost. Other hero skills improves but at expense of ADDITIONAL MANA COST.

(8) It's an AGILITY-based old gramps

STRENGTH and INTELLIGENCE based gramps is a dime in a dozens (Google Ray Moon) but How many of the old man that you see can still outrun you ? :P

(9) He is just pure bad ass old gramps.

Do you identify how many old man willing to hunt big giant sand scorpion ? He is just plain awesome and kick ass and badass too...

Crixalis: Hohoho .. I gonna stun you
Kardel: See what is up on your head, sandy boy ! :D

Interesting Experience From Internship

My 26 weeks of internship period in Bayan Lepas gave me a lot of really real insight on how to become a proper real engineer. Here, I share with you some lessons I learn from internship.

(1) Don't act complacency a.k.a like it's yours holiday job.

Ok, for some the internship period is much much shorter, says ... 10 weeks, but hey treat it as your real job. Coming in late (traffic jam is a big-not-to-say excuse ) or take a two hour lunch break is a big no no. This will reflect you as your interns to your potential employees one day later.

(2) Be pro-active in communicating with colleague

Being painfully shy is at a disadvantage here as the workplace no matter what department you are in requires constant communication with each other, even sharing gossips. First thing I learn is make a friendly eye contacts and picks up the correct words to start a conversation . :D (I am in the process of learning them)

(3) Missing out on company's activities

Sometimes, ( my host company host once but I miss it due to my ticket balik kampung on that same day) a company will host an unofficial activities such as family day, environment day or whatever sporting tournament they had, just join them if can. Don't duck them out for the working excuse, as you might lead your colleague thinking you didn't appreciate about work-balance values and miss out knowing your supervisor and colleague at a much more personal level.

(4) Forgetting to see big pictures

Sometimes, we as interns may not see the big pictures like gaining little allowance or OT without payment or any grunt that you have but we may fail to see the big pics behind it such as  the first time we played with hundred thousand ringgit equipment, learning the new management system such as ISO , 6 sigma , just in time manufacturing and more . As a note, when you feel bored, you can ask other supervisor who look busy and took over their job if you feel a little bit tedious repetitive with your current supervisor. :P ( I had at least 3 supervisor when I am in internship for 26 weeks) and being on set with smaller task, I am motivated to be able to reach of the task end goal.

(5) In doubt ? Ask question, it didn't hurt ....

Of course, that should be golden rule but in a typical Malaysia culture, the students is usually spoonfed . :] (I admit I am also product for spoonfed educations) But in working life, no asking is equal to sending yourself to eighteen levels of hell cos none of your colleague will be too free or too kind to help you voluntarily unless you ask. But there is a fine line between asking too much and asking none. You decides on the line . :)....

(6) Accepting rejections

There are some times , you had this kind of grand idea(s) of making things better but your colleague doesn't take time to listen to you or finds that the initial transition phase requires lots of money, time and energy. But hey, this is not the end of the world. Just like for the first time , I introduce to my fellow interns about the benefits of using the macro but he rejects it at first. After a few times , he asks help from an engineer and also my help to program a macro for his tasks. :) If you rejected for first time, have faith and perseverance. It will be worth it when your ideas is finally accepted and don't ever let your inner lion pride got better of you. :)

Some important life long lessons that I learned from Pac-man

Although my first computer game I vividly remember I played is Warcraft 2: Tide of Darkness , but before I had a computer, I remember Pac-Man because it is the first game I ever played in cheap made in China CD player machines besides Asteroid and Lunar Lander. (*P.S : That is before high speed broadband and facebook takes over pretty much of our lives)

But when I see the Google homepage on 22nd May 2010, the you can play Pac-Man in mazes looks like Google, all my childhood gaming memories are coming back.

(Arghhh ...It brings back memories)

Hey, can we can learn from something from this 30 years old game ? Heck, we can. Let me shows you what is the tiny little things that we learned from Pac-Man.

(1) You don't need violence or sexism to promote products.

As we can see the current top selling games like Fallout 3, Call of Duty , Bio-Shock, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Serious Sam , Dragon Age, Grand Theft Auto or any games for that matter, we can see the sexism and violence that are occured in game. Even when in the 70's time, we can see the shooting games such as Asteroid, Space Invader, Asteroid coming out, it is one of the kind of game which do not have weapons for the players to defend instead you are just a round yellow man who had to contend from chasing by the four ghosts in the maze and we cant even see the eyes of 8-bit Pacman ! :) And yet, it is one of the most played game in its time and available on any platform. (I played it in my CD machines)

(2) Simplicity is still the best.

If you offered a RM 100++ games titles which is packed with features and the simple games like Pac-Man, the non gamer will simply choose the Pac-Man. That is what makes Apple successful, simple and intuitive to use. Such as case for Pac-Man, even you give it to a 10 years old who never played it before, they will know how to play the games. They will know, they had to eat the small dots and the big dot will make the ghost vulnurable ( can be eaten ) , finish all the dots to advance to the next level. The simplicity makes the game more addicting. Hence, it is why I play casual flash games nowadays more to over the box title...

(3) When you start on a task, finish it before moving to next task

If you played Pac-Man before, you know that you had to clear all the small dots in that level until you cleared all the dots. Same as in real life, we may be overwhelmed by endless tasks but hey , we can take a small steps at a time to solve our tasks one by one and slowly in times to come, we may be able to finish all the work.

(4) Bad guys won't stay down for long . . .

The cells could only keep the bad guys out for just that long . . . Hence, we need to be always prepared for any inevitable outcome. That's why in movies, we can see Spiderman 1,2 or 3, Ironman 1,2 , Batman, Siperman . There are endless of bad guys in this world, if Kira ... exist ....

(5) If you had power, just flaunt it !

In Pac-Man, the big dot represent the power-up which will makes the ghost to become vulnerable to be eaten. When it happens, just don't waste any chance ! Eat them all and score extra bonuses as well as send them back to their cells for time being. :) Such as in real life, in this modern world, there is no such place for chivalry, when you can bring your enemy down, finish them for good and leave no room for them to rise up.

(6) Sometimes make a mistake in life is better than makes no mistake at all

The Pac-Man famous split screen bug is probably the best things we ever had (by the terms of embedded language). Why? Imagine, if not the bug, the game is played indefinitely by the expert players who may form some sort of addiction to the games (such as Korea to SC2) and it may prevent the addiction caused by playing too much game in the 70's or 80's.

Hehe .. enjoy the munching the dots and also the ghost in Pac-Man games on the G oo gle . :)

Update:

You can play the Pac-Man here although Google removed the game from the frontpage.

Outdated trends in web pages design

The Perfect Pseudonym

If you want your website to be taken seriously, you’re going to need to build a solid reputation. Of course, that all starts with the perfect pseudonym. David Davidson may work for you in real life, but you’re going to need something a little more powerful for your online persona. Try viRu$_hAx0r_4002-91, CYBER_BATMAN_2000, or sk8r325809238291. See, doesn’t that feel better?

An Under Construction Page

What’s more important than actually launching your site? Taking the time to create an elaborate page letting anyone who may randomly stumble upon your site know that it’s under construction. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT begin working on your site until you have a solid “under construction” page up. Don’t forget to include several images of construction signs and links to websites that already feature the content you are planning to cover. This might take awhile, but don’t worry, this page can be saved for future use.

An Extravagant Wallpaper

When building your main index page, you’ll want to start with the most important element — the background. Why is this the most important thing to focus on? The background accounts for the majority of any given visitor’s monitor space. Keeping in mind just how important the background is, you’re going to want the flashiest wallpaper available to plaster on it. Good choices typically include camouflage and tie dye. Really, though, any multi-colored pattern works. Don’t worry if you can only come up with a small image, you’re going to want to tile it anyway. That way, your 100px by 100px image will be shown hundreds of times.

Quality Content in Varied Fonts

Filling your website with quality content is the easiest part of the website creation process. Simply speak your mind and load your site with information on any topic that interests you. Feeling lazy? Not a problem! Just find websites that already contain the information your site needs, copy it, and paste it into your site editor. Easy, right? Now, you’re not going to want it displayed in some boring font like Arial or Times New Roman. Select a font that gives your site some character, but make sure to switch it up every few paragraphs or so.

The Enter Page

When visitors land on your site, you don’t want them to immediately receive the content they are looking for. Why? That makes you look like a total newb. Instead, you’ll want to create a splash page with a link that reads “enter.” Essentially, this is the online equivalent of opening your front door and inviting a guest into your home.

A Guestbook

Alright, you’ve spent a lot of time creating a solid website, now it’s time to enjoy the fruit of your labor. Installing a guestbook on your site is as easy as registering at Bravenet.com and customizing a pre-set template. After doing so, you can stick it right onto your site. Always include the field “What do you like about my site?” in the guestbook form — your hard work should never go unnoticed.

Buttons (Lots of Them)

Seek out a number of websites that rank the top websites for any given category (i.e. Top 100 Freestyle Frisbee Websites). Submit your link to them and you’ll be given a nifty button to place on your page, letting everyone know that you’re aiming for #1. The theme of these ranking sites is irrelevant, if your website is good, it will make it to the top of their list. Among these buttons you’ll also want to include buttons that send users to download Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer (just in case they don’t already have a web browser).

A Welcome Pop-up

While the enter page invites your visitors into your site, you don’t want to forget to welcome them. If you forget to do so, you will come off as rude. You don’t want that, right? Of course not! The best way to welcome visitors to your site is by creating a box that pops up and reads, “WELCOME!!!!!11.” If they have their speakers on it will make a loud noise alerting them of your greeting. Visitors will also have to click the “OK” button in the pop-up ensuring that they have received your courteous welcome.

A Visitor Counter

Every high quality website has a visitor counter that tracks how many times any given page on a site has been viewed. This will let you know how many individuals around the world are visiting your website, and will update in real time. Don’t feel bad if you’re not getting a ton of traffic, most counters allow you to start counting at any number you please. It’s recommended that you set your counter at a few million views to start — this will make your site look extremely popular.

12. Animated GIFs

The number of animated GIFs your website contains is directly proportional to its value. Stick an assortment of these images in seemingly random places throughout your pages. Popular animations include: flaming skulls, rotating smiley faces, large bouncing arrows, and pointing fingers.

13. A Looping MIDI Song

Adding a looping MIDI song to your website is the icing on the cake. First, select a popular (preferably alternative rock) song. Next, find a MIDI version of the song using a reliable search engine such as AltaVista and download it. No, this is not illegal, artists don’t care how their music is used on the internet. Patiently wait as the download may take between 2 – 3 hours depending on how many people are connected to your ISP at the time. Once completed, embed a MIDI player into your site, set the loop to infinite and you’re set. Now your audience can jam out to your favorite songs while they take in the awesomeness of your site.

Back to 90's using Geocities-zer !

Recently I found a webpages which transforms most of the indicated webpages into Geocities of 90's styles.

Here is the link

http://wonder-tonic.com/geocitiesizer/index.php

For those who are born on year 2000 onwards and don't catch what on earth should I care about Geo-Cities, here is a recap.

Back then in 1990's , Internet was powered up by 56kbps modem dial-up ( that are really slow like snail... ) . In mid 1990's some techno-prenuer had this weird but wonderful ideas of establishing free personal pages for the everyday people who had no knowledge of programming skills . It enables anyone who had times and effort to create a webpages to upload to the geocities sites with only condition that you took their domain names.

In instant , boom ! The DIY site builder webpages craziness spread everywhere . . .

Animated gifs, irritating Midi songs loopback ,Java pop-out, unforgettable guestbook , flashing blinking text , eye-sore colour matching of background and text....
Even a secondary school kids like me at that time can load up a video of boardskating of 2Mb onto my Geocities pages dedicating to skateboard ( which took about 10 mins to download. :( )

It is our personal pages ala Facebook,MSN all rolled into one in that golden era as it helped transformed the Internet landscape.

The golden era has long passed and early in this year, Geocities unceremoniously pulled out from plug after serving for more than a decade . :(

So long, Geo-cities. We forgot that you existed...

Here is my webpages after transformed by Geo-Citizer. Double click it to enlarge....

9 top MNC I would like to see in Bayan Lepas

In my opinion , Penang is my Silicon Island of the East ( Heck, even Singapore and Taiwan are fighting for that title) because there are many MNC (Multi National Company) that had established here specialized in hi-technology in R&D areas, manufacturings, logistic and also provides many jobs for locals as well as from other states. \ (^.^) /~yay . However, there are a few big top gun company that maybe miss their chance to establish here in Bayan Lepas during the peak golden era in 70's .

Here is my personal list of the MNC , not necessarily in the electronics industry

( randomly arranged not according to ranking or whatever)
(1) Nokia

Type : Telecommunications
Why ?

Yes, there is Motorola existed here already, what harm does it bring to bring one more competitors in same field that is Nokia. Asia region is one of the top regions where the cellphone penetrations is almost peaked. Hence, to fill in the demand on the cellphone , there should at least some R&D base here because Nokia brand is good in producing high end smart phone but it's price is still out of reach for some.(Edit: Recent lowering the price is still out of reach for many middle class family.) By establishing a company here, they will get a more clearer pictures about the features that consumers in this SEA regions wanted in their cellphones.

(2) Acer

Type : Computing Technology

Why ?
Acer brand is one of the most recognized computing brand due to its competitive pricing. Beside, just as Dell, we can dedicate R&D center on Bayan Lepas because around there are nearby university that produce engineering top minds such as from Universiti Sains Malaysia ( USM ) and also Universiti Malaysia Perlis ( UniMAP ) to meet the workforce demand. And why not to include some test lab here to test the ruggedness and rigorousness of the PC which is considered more cheaper to established here compared in Japan.

(3) Nestle

Type : Nutrition/ Bio-technology / Confectionery Industry
Why ?
Penang ( or any other place in Malaysia ) are particularly diverse in ethnic diversity so that if you want to survey and develop through food clinical trial , you can also gather the data result from different many kinds of ethnics races found in Malaysia which is part of Malaysia identity. Malaysia is free from any food contamination incidents so far until now which has plagued the China recently, so in terms of safety , Penang is the most suitable choice to establish manufacturing plants
.
(4) Google

Type : Search Engine / Advertising

Why ?
Google is my favourite search engine. I love it more than Bing ;) However, except for a small establishment in Singapore, there are no strong presence of Google in South East Asia region yet. And also the ads using AdSense is also not quite targeted to our local regions consumers.Google recent pulling out from China could mean good news as our Malaysia Goverment is practicing open connection to Internet without restriction. With their establishment here , maybe the Google AdSense is making more sense and more targeted to local consumers because most of the current ads are just get rich quick (a.k.a Ponzi scheme) with almost no real SME companies advertising.

(5) Nortel Networks

Type : Networking, Communication

Why ?
Malaysia (especially Penang and Malacca ) is the briskest trading hub in the 17th-18th century thanks to British Colonist. However in 21st century as well, telecommunications also played a major part in developing economy and connect us to outside world. Penang is blessed because it is the gateway to Straits of Malacca (Connected from India in the West and China to the East) and hence it can dedicate itself to manufacture optic fibre and laying them in S.E.A regions and extensive R&D to provide faster connection speed and produces more rugged cables. ;)

(6) Novell

Type : Datacenter , Security , End Computing
Why ?

Malaysia is lacking a true data-center ( a.k.a SuperComputer that crunch data up to petaflops ). As the "cloud applications" is the buzz word in technosphere, more and more services, applications are integrated in Web2.0 .Recently the Jaring i splanning a nationwide data-grid with collaboration from Perak and Sabah government as well as USM. Well with Novell expertise in this area , they can build collaboration with USM to set up a true data-center which might make a significant progress to scientific communities in Malaysia.
(7)

Type: Computer security
Why ?
Kaspersky AV is one of the top line of AV product in recent time, hence to combat the threat of rising case of locally programmed kiddie scripts, malware such as Brontok, Neo.vr, Faizal.js,... , the Kaspersky could establish honeypots servers especially in the academics centers (KDU, USM,Inti) where there are bound to have swarms of the virus legions try to infect the computers. Also they can tap the local hacker talents which can produce a better AV to better prepared in combating localized malware threat which cant be detected by using conventional means.

(8)

Type: Gaming Industries
Why ?
Their massively popular MMORPG , World of Warcraft has garnered as much as 10 M of players globally. Although there are some game servers here hosted by Sendi Mutiara, what we need to have is a subsidiary company here which let us create the content for WoW, host the BattleNet account . The LimKokWing students are top notch designer, (seen from my few of my friends design), maybe they will create uber items based on localities flavour. Durian Launcer , anyone ?

(9)
Type: Design/Manufacturing sportswear or sport equipment
Why?
:) It is proven that somewhere in future, the cost of manufacturing will not be as cheap in about 8-9 years due to increase demand of salary of the ants worker.Hence , it would be better to move out to countries which had high-tech manufacturing facility such as Malaysia or Singapore. Also , Malaysia is a multi-racial country where there are different ethnics group of body anatomy which makes it a bit easier to design a really ergonomic sportswear for most customers.

My customization of Ironman super suit

So , Ironman 2 recently out and reports had it , it's the biggest opening ever block buster this year. :) But I would not to ramble on how the actions were toned down in this movie or whatever critics that you had ( You unappreciative newbs!). I am going to discuss about the what can I improve based on Ironman 2 suits ( NOT The Movies !) and guess what ? Here it is !

As the Windows 7 heralds the new revolution to a new evolution of Windows OS experience, Mark 7 will mark as the new revolution of the exo-skeleton suit. Here I will be sharing what the suit will be fitted in each compartments before revealing the whole figures. :) Promise that you will be different from the familiar featured Ironman!

[VAMBRACES]
The palm area could be fitted with sensors which can sequences the DNA from strand of hair in real time or detect and analyse the chemical compositions in unknown material by just touching the unknown material even in minuscule amount or functions a multi-meter probe which detects electric currents/voltage/resistance which helps in forensic crime scene, or a hand-held document imaging and scanner (It is already hand held :D) , EMP jammer to disable the hostiles forces electronic equipments or a torchlight which brightness is more than 200,00 candelas (can temporarily blind/stunned baddies) .The gauntlet also must boost strength by a large margin as it is extended exo-skeleton (which suppose to give massive boost of strength). Apart from that, the gauntlet can wield a beam gun or a expand a shield in flash to protect the wearer.

[SHOULDER-PADS]
Heh ... The shoulder pads are in again in this current seasons :P but since there are empty spaces inside it , lets max the usage of it . The right shoulder side can be mounted with collapsible but powerful weapons such as mini rockets launcher, mini laser cannon , mini laser gattling gun ... you get the idea and the inside of right shoulder pad can be equipped with spare arc reactor which is the primary source of energy for Ironman suit. The left side will be housing air purifier/compressed oxygen tank (if there are situations which warrant the usage such as outer space, undersea,...).

[GREAVES]

Apart from giving the much needed speed boost or jet thrust, the greaves could stores the mini stealthy scout robots ( be it by water, underground or air) and relay the gathered intel back to Ironman to be decided by him the next course of actions to take either by transmit wirelessly ( quite dangerous if there are skilled hackers in enemy bases) or just returned back to Ironman and loads up the intel in his own Personal Terminal

[CODPIECES]
It can be doubled as toilet for pissing besides protecting private parts as the urine waste can be recycled back to convert back into chemical energy.
;( Can't really think what can do with there. :(

[VISOR]
The vision lens can be fitted with different kinds of imaging techs as X-Ray imaging, thermal imaging, radar imaging, EM spectrum imaging, and such. Besides the augmented reality could play a big part as the continuous data feedback from sensor of different body parts could be displayed on screen real time , as well as facebooking while fighting bad guys ? :P. It also stores the wireless transmitter which allows him to have network connection with his own private server J.A.R.V.I.S which updates him the updated data upon request.

Ok , roll the drums .. I am going to show you the other customization version of Ironman ! :) Come come in 3,2,1 go ...

Tada ....

In my opinions, although it looks quite bulky and ugly but it is truly aerodynamic when flying compared to movie version and it as well protect the wearer from any head and shoulder injuries. :D ...
